Attack on the VAR room!

Corinthians Football Director rushes to storm the VAR room while the game is still being played against Gremio after a certain referee decision.

The fixture took place between two Seria A Brazilian teams SC Gremio and Corinthians at the Arena de Gremio in Porto Alegre, which held such drama. This game was the biggest fixture of the weekend, however this did not end up being the reason for it gaining so much attention. This drama started when the Corinthians defender Matheus Bidu did not gain an early penalty by the referee Rodrigo Pereira.

The referee also sent of another Corinthians defender Bruno Mendez after reviewing an incident on the monitor. These specific events filled the Corinthians Director of Football (Alessandro Nunes) with so much rage that him and his colleagues attempted to gain access into the VAR room confront the certain individuals who were responsible for these decisions.

These chaotic moments were captured on record and have gone viral through multiple social media sites, along with the reasoning for these actions. Alessandro Nunes had this to say "This was my way of protesting against the absurdity of the VAR referee. It does not help the field referee. There was a clear penalty, how long will we keep making these mistakes?" He then continued to admit that has acted out of order, but stated in his own words that this is what VAR is leading too.

The problem is that, this seems to be happening all over the world, certainly with the controversies that have happened in the premier league this season, in games like, Liverpool v Spurs and Arsenal v Newcastle, where similar situations have taken place surrounding VAR where there have clearly been big mistakes where nothing is done and no one is held accountable.

This leaves the question is still being asked, is VAR working?
